Greetings Lovelies! I hope your week is going well so far :) Today on the blog plaid and leather and fur OH MY! lol This was actually an outfit I had planned for the New York Fashion Week experience but since that didn't happen, I have been waiting for a chilly day to sport it. I'm really into fur and leather (faux) right now despite the fact that its almost spring lol I also really like the element of plaid and how you can dress it down or up with the right accessories. And how CUTE is this leather skirt?! I love it! Its such an edgy but feminine piece to have in your wardrobe and you can sport it fall through summer.
This was a really fun day, I haven't laughed that hard in long time so it was very much needed.

A big thank you to Ashley Nicole Simmons for taking these for me click here to set up a shoot with her or to see the rest of her awesome work! :)

Thanks for reading and the wonderful support as always! Wishing you all a great day! :)

A Little Black Dress and a Greatly Coveted Interview

Hat/Sunnies/Necklace- ebay, Dress- H&M, Vest- thrifted, Tights- Forever 21, Booties- Guess, Bag- Michael Kors, Ring- Charlotte Russe, Watch- Target

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had a fabulous weekend :) The most exciting thing I did was watch Lost Girl with my good friend Jessi and hey, I am perfectly okay with that lol Any ways, today on the blog I am dressed for success because I have a very longly anticipated interview with Express! I have always loved their selection of clothing, its very sophisticated but at the same time trendy and versatile. I can always find something I love in that store whether it's a gorgeous fur vest or an edgy denim jacket, Express never ceases to disappoint me. Okay enough gushing, lets move on to the outfit details! When I go to an interview, I really like to stick with mostly black because it's not only professional looking but its effortlessly chic and not to mention the confidence you receive when wearing it. To break up some of the classic color, I paired it with an open grey sweater vest I thrifted from Yvonne's in down town Fairhope for $14 and my MK Gansevoort in the color luggage. Then to top it off, my beloved floppy hat for a personal touch and gold jewelry because I love the contrast of gold against black. I also think it just pulls the whole outfit together. Well, wish me luck! Hopefully by the next post I'll be the new girl at Express haha. Have a wonderful day all... until next time! :)

The Tigress

Hat- Forever 21, Sunnies- thrifted, shirt- Ross, Pants- Forever 21, Booties- Guess, Necklace- Charlotte Russe

Hi guys! I hope you're all doing well :) Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting two very unique individuals and I'm pretty sure one of them is my long lost twin lol I met up with them at Latte Da in beautiful downtown Fairhope to discuss a very enticing position with their magazine called Method Magazine. I will be writing a fashion/trend column once every two months and since I am already a writer and fashion is my life, I thought it couldn't be more my cup of tea even if it came with a lifetime subscription of international Vogue!

On another note, I am so obsessed with this style of pants! So comfy and forgiving of that annoying stomach pooch that every girl experiences at least once in their lifetime. I definitely will be purchasing more. Have a great weekend sweethearts!

First Shopping Haul of 2014

Hey guys! I know it has been forever since I did one of these but it was such a good one I couldn't resist sharing it with all of you :) I'm really into florals, kimonos, bodysuits and bright colors right now so I kind of went overboard with a few of them lol Florals are also really big this spring so I didn't feel too bad about buying them in bulk! Most of the items are from Forever 21, it seems to be my home away from home these days, the booties and jewelry are from Charlotte Russe and the high waist shorts and cross necklace are from Body Central.

Pretty basic floral bodysuit, but I can style it with a good bit of pieces I already have in my wardrobe, its a good statement piece to have for summer.

Absolutely in LOVE with this kimono! The florals are gorgeous and the fringe netting detail is amazing!

My one and only plaid shirt as of now lol I really love the feminine look it has. I don't know if its just me but I think there's two kinds of plaid, feminine and masculine. Feminine tends to have more of a dark red and deep blue color scheme and the pattern is a bit more detailed where masculine plaid leans more towards lighter shades of red and blue and has a more basic pattern.

Picked up this shorter kimono because I just loved how it draped on my body, very flowy and pretty

I really like the cut of the sleeves on this shirt plus the saying is pretty blunt which I like

I needed a slim jumpsuit to wear under my kimonos plus I just love jumpsuits they're so easy and basically outfit by itself.

picked up this Optimus Prime bodysuit because well why not? lol its so comfy and would be fun for a photo shoot idea I have.

This is actually from Tjmaxx and I got it on sale for $10 I just thought it was really cute I loved the stud detail on the pocket.

I got this dress because it reminded me a Paris, its just really fun and simple sometimes you just need that.

I honestly only have one black maxi dress other than this one... yeah I know crazy right? Considering I'm obsessed with maxis and black is my favorite color to wear. I really like how it fits and it has slits on both sides so its perfect!

I cannot express to you how hard it is to find high waisted denim shorts right now. I mean has no one heard of wearing them with a chunky knit sweater, black tights and booties?! I cannot be the only one. High waisted denim shorts can be worn all year round people! Any ways finally hunted some down at body Central and they couldn't be more perfect, exactly the color and style I was looking for!

Oh what do you know more florals! Such a great maxi skirt, I couldn't pass it up.

How cute are these floral aviators? They are fantastic!

I am so obsessed with these babies!

Needed this for a photo shoot I'm doing soon.

I didn't have any cross necklaces so he had to come home with me

Loved it. Had to have it. End of story.

I really wanted a lace bodysuit and I couldn't find a black one any where so I settled for a spring trend color.

Okay, harem pants... terrible looking on a hanger but really cute on your body!

Lime green high waist hot pants anyone? YESS!

Loved the color combo of this long kimono also needed for an upcoming photo shoot

I really liked the star pattern plus would look so good with the pink number below!

How darling is this skirt? So sixties I LOVE it! Also the engraved pattern is stunning!

I saw these babies and snatched them up before anyone else could! They were on sale at Charlotte Russe for $15 and I don't have anything like them in my closet which is a big deal for me because I'm a shoeaholic. Haven't really decided what I'm going to wear them with but I just loved them!

Well, that's it for this haul! I hope you enjoyed it and thanks for visiting. Have a beautiful sunday night everyone and much love! XOXO Em

Setting the Record Straight.

Hey everyone! I hope you're all staying safe and warm. On today's post I just wanted to set the record straight about something that has been brought to my attention lately. For those of you that have known me for a while, I'm sure you have noticed my drastic change in personal style lately. Yes, my style has changed. I'm not into wearing bows, ruffles or cute little dresses right now and I don't feel like being conservative with my outfits. I consider myself a style chameleon, I have always had such an extreme personality and it bubbles over into my style as well as my taste in music and interests. It is not unheard of for me to completely abandon my current look for an entirely adverse one. As a creative soul, I get bored very easily and resort to an erratic change very often.

I realize that the way I'm dressing lately is turning a few heads around here, okay lots of heads and some are not in a positive way... okay most are not. This is the South, home of the judgmental, conservative, God fearing folk. I get it. I'm in the wrong state to be walking around in what I do, so I honestly don't blame you for looking at me like I just left that shady motel you pass on the way to work everyday. However, my current style (current being the keyword here) is not meant to define the kind of person I am, just like tattoos and piercings don't define the person wearing them. The coolest, kindest people are covered in tats from head to toe. I am for the most part, a good person. I believe in God and pray to him about everyone in my life every night. I don't sleep around or stay out every night partying. Most the time Im here, in my bed on netflix or pinterest... sad but true. I constantly go out of my way to help someone out or to cheer them up, I don't judge others and I am all about kindness, equality and treating every human being the way I wish to be treated. I'm not exclaiming I'm a saint by any means but I am certainly not the little harlot you might think I am.

I guess I should explain my past. Growing up I was known as Miss goody two shoes. I didn't drink or do drugs, I didn't go out and party like all my friends were doing. The most experimenting I did with my look was wear skinny jeans and submerse my eyes in black eyeliner. In school I just tried to blend in and dress like the cool kids because being myself was just out of the question , I just wanted to fit in and be liked and at the time that meant straying from what I liked. I'm a late bloomer in pretty much everything in life and I guess you could say I'm just now going through those kind of phases. I'm just now acting out and being extravagant with my style because I was too scared to back then. Now that doesn't mean I'm going out every night and hooking up, it also doesn't mean I'm off doing drugs either. I don't even smoke cigarettes or weed, not that that's bad thing. I do drink but not as often as you might think. I'm not acting out in those ways even though my current demeanor might say otherwise. By acting out I mean I'm pushing boundaries with what I can and can't get away with style wise. It is solely based on fashion for me.

Most girls my age in the South either wear chevron tunics, monogrammed scarves, purses or necklaces and skinny jeans with brown riding boots or tunic dresses with cowboy boots or their boyfriends fishing shirts with runner shorts and Costas. And that's great, if thats what you like, more power to you! But that's not me and it never will be. I am no longer that apprehensive little girl who only cared about fitting in. I would not only be miserable knowing I look like everyone else but I would be angry with myself for trying to be something I'm not. I was born to stand out, to be different and to have my own style. I have too much passion and creativity running through my veins to blend in with the norm. I wasn't able to see and fully understand that until recently. What attire I choose to put on and the way I view fashion is what makes me unique, its what sets me apart from the rest of the world.

And okay I'm going to be honest with you, I enjoy the uncomfortable vibe I pick up when people notice what I have on. Maybe a little more than I should. Sometimes I don't want to be pretty and classy looking, sometimes I just want to wear crazy embellished leggings, my leather jacket and throw a beanie on. To me fashion is not about looking cute or pretty or classy or even sane, yes thats nice sometimes but I would much rather have someone thinking I'm off my rocker than them passing it off as just another cute outfit. Do you think artists want people to think their work is cute or classy? Haha no! They want to stop them dead in their tracks, they want jaws dropping in amazement, they want the emotion to overwhelm the audience to tears. That's what makes art and music so great, it has the compelling ability to MAKE YOU FEEL SOMETHING, fashion is no different.

Fashion is so much more than an outfit or look to me though, it's a way of life. Its the very lifeline that keeps me existing. From the moment I wake up to the second I go to sleep, I am thinking about fashion.  I'm either researching it, watching it, putting it together in my head, or reading something that pertains to it because thats my passion in life and it always will be.

And if you want a blunt explanation; I'm 22 years old, I don't have any children to pose as an image for. I've spent most of my life trying to make everyone happy, everyone except for the one person that should matter the most, myself. I also have the wonderful opportunity to just be carefree and worry about my happiness and that is simply being myself and wearing whatever I feel like.
There will always be someone judging you or someone to say; "I don't like you or what you stand for" but you have to remember for every person that hates you or what you do, there is also one person out there that likes you and what you're displaying. In the end, all you have is who you are and whether you decide to expose or hide it, will ultimately decide the regrets you will have in the end. I dont know about you but I'd much rather have "remember that one time" than "I wish I had done that."
So I hope that gives you some insight to whats going on with me. Thank you so much for reading and as always thank you for all your support and kind feedback, so many of you keep me constantly positive and inspired so again, THANK YOU and God bless!<3
